Crime Scene Entry Log
A crime scene entry log is completed for one purpose this is so that none authorized personnel aren't able to enter the scene. A police officer is stood at the entrance of every crime scene with a crime scene entry log ensuring that everyone who enters fills it out, information included on a crime scene entry log is; details of the logger, name and contact details of visitors, reasons for visit, which authoritative team they work with e.g. police, paramedics and the time that the individual entered and left the scene. By having a crime scene entry log at every crime scene this ensures that the scene is safer as only authorized individuals will be granted access, by having a safer crime scene this can contribute to valid evidence collection as no evidence can be stolen or tampered with at the scene. No evidence can be stolen as individuals wont be able to enter the scene without access from the police officer located at the point of entry, this also means it wont be tampered with as individuals wont have a chance of doing this.
Crime Scene Entry Log within the Soham Murders
Within the Soham murders a tent was set up on the other side of the crime scene tape where two officers where stood, they filled out the crime scene entry log for any person that entered the scene stating the correct details. By having a crime scene entry log this ensured that no one that was un-authorized was able to enter the scene and the scenes of crime officers where able to complete there job effectively.
